The prerequisite for ancient language competency in Greek or Hebrew is as follows:
If a student has had three semesters of undergrad Greek or Hebrew immediately prior to enrolling here, and if their grades have been C- or better, they do not need to take the competency exam.
If there has been a year or more since last completing Greek or Hebrew, or if they scored lower than a C- in any of their semesters of Greek or Hebrew, or if they didn't complete all three semesters, they must sit for the competency (though GREK 201 may be taken concurrently in some cases with BITH 564).
Competency Tests will be given in the Spring, Winter and Summer before the start of each session. For more information or to register, please contact the Foreign Languages Secretary at 630-752-5039. A per test fee will be charged to your student account upon registration. This fee is refundable up to 24 hours before the test. Refunds requested later than the deadline are given at the discretion of the department.
