International Graduate Admissions

Educational Requirements

Admission to Wheaton requires completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree, or equivalent, from an accredited school. To be considered equivalent to a 4-year B.A. degree an international degree must:

  1. Be from an institution that is accredited either by governmental agencies or regional or professional accrediting agencies.
  2. Be taken after 12 years of primary and secondary level schooling and having met university entrance requirements.
  3. Be a 4-year tertiary (university level) program.
  4. Have a strong element of Liberal Arts and Humanities in addition to the core courses taken within the major field.
  5. Be completed at a high scholarship level, well above the minimum pass level.
  6. Slight exceptions to the above may be considered and remedied by fulfilling additional prerequisite courses.

English Proficiency

Wheaton does not offer an English language program for foreign students. If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate proficiency in English by having a minimum 550 TOEFL score (English proficiency requirements are listed in detail in the International Student's Guide). All international students for whom English is a second language will be required to take an English proficiency exam at Wheaton College during International Student Orientation week, whether or not they were required to take the TOEFL test. Those who do not demonstrate proficiency on the Wheaton English exams will be required to take Advanced English Composition (INTR 501) and/or Advanced Academic Interaction (INTR 502).
