Housing

Where Will I Live?

Most graduate students meet their housing needs in one of three ways: (l) on-campus apartments through College Housing, (2) off-campus housing listings of available apartments, rooms/homes for rent, and (3) apartment complexes near campus.

On-Campus Housing

The Residence Life site has information about on-campus housing options and the Wheaton College Apartments & Houses brochure also contains helpful information. Graduate students living on campus agree to abide by all of the policies and procedures outlined in the Undergraduate Student Handbook. A copy of this handbook is mailed to graduate students living on campus through the College Post Office.

Single Graduate Student Housing

A limited number of College-owned furnished apartments are available for single graduate students. PsyD and PhD students are limited to two years in college housing.

Married and Family Student Housing

A limited number of College-owned furnished apartments and houses are available for married international students and Colson Scholars, as well for international students and Colson Scholars with families. Married students and graduate students with families living in a college-owned family housing unit are limited to a two-year lease.

Length of Occupancy

Apartments are normally rented for the academic year, with the option of continuing in the summer. However, tenants may move out between semesters, as long as proper notice is given. Students are expected to vacate their apartments at the end of the semester they graduate. Tenant occupancy begins approximately one week before classes begin and ends the day after Commencement. Requests to move in earlier may be noted on the application, but cannot always be granted.

Application
Information and application forms are available from the Housing Office located in Student Development, Room 218 in the Student Services Building, (630) 752-5027. Applications will be accepted at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of class for the following semester. Apartments for graduate and/or married students are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis as applications are received.

Housing Office

The Housing Office also assists by providing a list of off-campus options, including apartments and rooms for rent. Off campus housing openings are posted on the Housing Office bulletin board in the Beamer Student Center. The Housing Office does not administer arrangements for off campus housing. Wheaton College does not arrange off-campus housing for students. Students are responsible for making arrangements directly with the property owner/landlord and/or roommates.
