Ph.D. Application Process

Application Deadline:  December 1

Online Application

2010 Ph.D. Application (pdf)

Students interested in the Ph.D. program at Wheaton should understand that the admission process is likely to be quite competitive. We therefore strongly urge students to do all they can to create a strong admissions profile before making application to the program. An extra year of preparation in languages (Greek, Hebrew, German) and general reading in areas of the student's interest will strengthen the quality of the application and the speed with which one moves through the program.

The Ph.D. program at Wheaton is committed to close interaction between student and mentor. Applicants need to specify the faculty member with whom they hope to work, and also identify as specifically as possible the dissertation topic they hope to pursue.

All application materials must be submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office by December 1, 2009.

Personal interviews with selected applicants will be conducted in late February. Wheaton College will provide for main meals at the interview.  The student is responsible for travel to and from the interview and for their lodging.  The admissions office can provide information about low cost housing options and directions to the college. Call 1-800-888-0141.

Applicants will be notified of their status in March. Successful applicants must notify Wheaton College of their intention to enroll by sending a $500 deposit on or before April 1. Students will be advised at the time of admission about the length and requirements of their program, but final determinations will be made only after matriculation.
