Admission Requirements

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology

 

  1. Application deadline—December 15 (new).
  2. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  3. Minimum GPA 3.0.
  4. Eighteen credit hours of prerequisites (see below).
  5. Complete application for admission.
    1. GRE General Test scores (Tips for taking GRE, New GRE question types).
      1. International students: submit TOEFL scores instead of GRE scores.
        1. TOEFL requirements.
    2. Official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended.
    3. Four recommendations.
      1. Academic.
      2. Pastoral (or other Christian leader).
      3. Professional (employer).
      4. Mental Health Professional (practicing therapist or psychology professor with doctorate).
    4. Essays.
    5. Resume.
    6. Research paper (10 pages minimum, demonstrating APA style).
    7. Signed Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.
    8. Application processing fee: $50, non-refundable.

       

      Prerequisites (18 hrs.)

      All prerequisites must be taken from a psychology department—not an education or sociology department.

      1. General Psychology
      2. Abnormal Psychology or Psychopathology
      3. Personality Psychology or Theories of Psychotherapy
      4. Physiological Psychology (can be taken as tutorial during first year of PsyD)
      5. One course from the following.
        1. Experimental Design
        2. Quantitative Methods
        3. Research Methods
        4. Statistics

       6 & 7. Two courses from the following (traditional "scientific" subdisciplines of psychology).

        1. Cognition
        2. Developmental Psychology
        3. Learning
        4. Sensation/Perception
        5. Social Psychology
